Maybe we’re just missing Canada a little bit…

We were just watching YouTube videos and somehow ended up here… Do you guys remember this? If you don’t, watch it to see the awesomeness that is Canada. If you do, watch it to see the awesomeness that is Canada.

How rude of us…let us introduce ourselves…

Today we were sitting and discussing the fact that (Spoiler Alert) we will soon be introducing a couple of new characters to this blog. It was then we realized…we’ve never actually introduced ourselves! You see we started this blog as a bit of a travel journal. It was a way to make us write everyday, or at least almost everyday, about what we saw, did and, of course, ate. We figured our readership would consist of our respective parents and sisters. It was exciting enough when we heard that some of our friends and other family members were checking in, but we never dreamed that we would have readers (and even followers) that we didn’t know! Let’s just give a shout out right now to all of you that randomly stumbled upon us and have kept reading! You guys are awesome!

So for those of you who don’t know us, or maybe only know one of us, or simply wish you knew us better, here’s the rundown:

The Wonder & Wanderlust girls are composed of Kristin & Justine. The two of us are cousins and best friends. We were born only 4 months apart and were lucky enough to be born into a super tight family. As long as either of us can remember we have been together! We went to the same schools, took part in the same sport & had plenty of quality Padget Family bonding time.

We’ve talked about this trip for over a year and now that we have both finished school we jumped at the chance to make a dream become reality. We decided that we would embark on a 4 month backpackers journey around Europe, hitting as many places as we could and experiencing as much of the culture as possible. Now 4 months is a really long time, but it starts to seem short when you have so many places to go! Our travel itinerary does have some gaping holes when it comes to Europe as a whole, such as Spain/Portugal & the countries of Scandinavia, but we are young and know we will be back to see these parts in the future.

Four months is also a really long time to spend with just one other person…straight…the whole time… We recognized that. We knew we’d each have our moments, but if we were to be able to travel with anyone, it would be each other! Remember, we’ve been inseperable for over 23 years now! We’ve even lived together. There’s not a lot about each other that surprises us anymore.

Ok, thats the deal on us as a pair…now for us as individuals:

Kristin is 23 years old (although she’ll turn 24 before we get back to Canada) but doesn’t always act like it. She finished University just over a year ago with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. She really is an engineer too…totally nerdy & slightly socially ackward. She also can’t spell to save her life…if you see spelling mistakes in our posts they are most definitely her fault. Although she loves math & gears, she has another side too. Kristin has a lot of spunk & creativity. For the last year she’s had a second job (on top of her job doing engineering for a power plant) as a figure skating choreographer. She likes to dance around like a idiot, even in public, and make friend with randoms on the street…as long as they don’t look sketchy. She enjoys whenever she is center of attention. Her favorite food is meatloaf and her favorite thing may be five-cent candies…especially if they come from the Stony arena.

Justine is also 23 years old. She finished University last December with a Science Degree. Her major is Biological Sciences and her minor is History. That historical part definitely comes out of her in our posts! She writes all of the super informative bits. European history is her favorite!!! Since she finished school she’s been working as a research assistant at the University. This allowed her to live in the woods for a couple weeks this summer and look at a lot of maps of burrowing owl habitat. Like Kristin she also has a passion for figure skating. She loves to coach, especially all of the little kids. Her favorite movie of all time is Titanic and she knows more about this movie and the actually ship than anyone should. She also owns more Disney movies than anyone she knows. They bring out the Disney Princess inside her.

That’s the general idea at least. For all of you out there that do know us well, we love you guys too! Thanks for reading & commenting & following! Oh, and if you guys think we left any glaring holes in our explanation fo who we are, fill them in in the comments section!

Love, Luck & Lots More Love!

Rumbleroar…he’s the headmaster…he’s a lion who can talk!

So this has been a Harry Potter packed couple of days. Nothing makes us happier, but it has left us with a few songs circling unrelentingly through our heads. This may seem like unconnected circumstances…how does a book series leave you thinking of music? The answer is one word: YouTube. Yes, everyone’s favorite source of time wasting has struck again an it has left us with one burning question:
Is it crazy to be able to name your top 5 favorite Harry Potter YouTube videos?

You’re answer may be different from ours, but we think not. So in case you are looking for a way to pass a little time (or hours on end) we are going to give you that list right here! Aren’t you lucky!?

1. The Harry Potter Deathly Hallows/Friday Parody by The Hillywood Show
A brilliant parody featuring scenes from the HP & the Deathly Hallows Pt1 and set to the tune of Rebecca Black’s Friday. So catchy! And was the perfect song to sing while waiting for Part 2 at midnight!
“Deathly Hallows, Gotta destroy a horcrux…Everybody is looking forward to the movie, Part 2!”

2. Harry Potter Puppet Pals & the Mysterious Ticking Noise
It is just as it sounds: HP puppets singing in time to a mysterious ticking.
“Snape Snape Severus Snape, Dumbledore…HarryPotterHarryPotterHarryPotter…”

3. A Very Potter Musical & A Very Potter Sequel
Now these are not just one video but a bunch making up a hilarious play, and it’s sequel! The best part…it starts Darren Criss (aka Blaine from Glee) as Harry! Here are the links to the first parts of each:
“Gotta get back to Hogwarts…Gotta get back to school…”

“Cause you’re Harry-Freaking-Potter…”

4. Wizard Love
This is a clever little ditty about forbidden love between warring houses.
“Cause baby I’m a Slytherin and girl you are a Gryffindor!”

Now here’s where things get tricky! Picking #5….so we’re each going to put what we think ours might be…

First Kristin
5. Any video of people playing quidditch in real life…
It has to be the most ridiculous and yet the most awesome thing I have ever seen!
Here’s one of many videos:

Now Justine
5. The Literal Version of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Trailer
These guys very cleverly sing the actions of the trailer to the tune of the background music. Very entertaining!
